Boost your product page rankings with a content and link funnel
Do you want to improve the ranking of important product pages while increasing secondary KPIs?
Do you want your products to appear on the first page of Google?
On June 7th, I hosted a webinar with Page One Power’s Cory Collins, Nick Katseanes, and Kimberly Brown, who showed us a unique full-funnel approach.
In this webinar, they presented innovative ways to combine link building and content creation for stronger SEO campaigns.
Here is a summary of the webinar. To access the entire presentation, fill out the form.
Steps to building a funnel that will increase product page rankings
We all want more income from quests.
But how do we get it?
The answer lies in product keywords and qualified traffic.
Here is the step-by-step process:
Step 1: Find existing link opportunities
If you want to harness the power of search, you need to influence your category pages through link building.

Step 2: Check the content for relevance, rankings and links
Check the keywords you’re ranking for. Do you have really relevant content for this keyword and category?
Have you created bottom, middle, and top funnel content?
Review your existing content and compare it to parts of the funnel you may have missed. Fill in those gaps with linkable content.
Step 3: Create mid-level content for high-intent keywords
Choose high-intent keywords that naturally help you create content in these common categories:
- Use cases.
- Customer Questions and Concerns.
- functional understanding.
- Jargon, terms and beginner definitions.
This will help you build your authority as a provider in this space and become a linkable resource for anyone researching your data.
Some categories to avoid, especially when thinking about search earnings, are:
- Best Products.
- product reviews.
- Comparison (my product vs. competitor).

Step 4: Create top funnel content for links
Why would any other website, especially a reputable website, be willing to link to your page?
The real reason lies in their audience. It must have value for them.

Step 5: Create links and associate the funnel
Create links through:
- Creating a list of websites that should be interested in linking.
- Promote, promote and promote even more.
- Tracking emails, replies and links.
- Refinement based on the first answer.
Don’t forget to link everything together
Top funnel content is specifically designed to serve as a bridge between your mid-funnel and bottom-funnel (product) pages.
You want your top funnel, mid funnel, and bottom funnel to be connected.
Your product, category, service, or solution page should be at the bottom of your funnel. Ultimately, that’s what gets you, your customers.
As part of your regular content maintenance, remember to include an internal link from one page to another at every opportunity.

Step 6: Measure impact, KPIs and performance
Narrative is crucial in SEO reporting as it helps clients and decision makers understand the impact of your work.
The narrative consists of the metrics that show the progress toward the goal of increasing sales:
- Improving the product term ranking (main goal).
- New high intent keyword rankings.
- Organic traffic growth.
- New links, relationships and profits.
Then these metrics should be linked to business value, with the metrics focusing on output:
- clicks.
- web forms.
- Qualified Leads.
- conversions/sales.
