Edit your business hours in your Google business profile

One of the most common questions business owners ask is how to edit their business hours in their Google Business Profile (GBP), formerly Google My Business. This guide will walk you through how to do that and highlight some other Business Hours features you may not have known about.

First, understand that you can set different types of business hours for your business. The first thing you should do is determine your peak business hours. These are the times when you are operational and either greeting customers at your business location or conducting business for customers at their location.

To set your peak hours in GBP, do the following:

  1. Go to your Google Business Profile dashboard.
  2. Click Edit Profile.
  3. Scroll down until you see “Business Hours” > click the pencil icon to open the editor panel.
  4. Make sure “Open during peak hours” is selected.
  5. Set your opening hours. Note that you can mark certain days as “closed”.
  6. Click “Save.”

Can you set your Google listing to close for part of the day?

If your company takes breaks during the day, for example your office is closed for lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., you can set this in your company profile to show as “Closed” during that time. Simply enter your morning hours in the first two drop-down boxes, click the plus sign, and then set your afternoon hours in the second boxes. You can set as many of these breaks as you want. Simply click on the “plus” sign to add additional hour blocks.

Open without main opening hours

In the “Business Hours” section, you will see the “Open non-peak hours” option. This means your business listing will appear on maps and search, but business hours will not be displayed. This is NOT the same as “open 24 hours.” There is an option to add “24 hours” in the “Open at” and “Closed at” drop-down lists in the “Peak Hours” section.

Mark your Google listing as “Temporarily Closed” or “Permanently Closed.”

You can also mark your Google listing as “temporarily closed” or “permanently closed” in the “Business Hours” section. Be sure to only check these off if they apply to your business location, as this will appear on your profile on maps and in search.

Additional hours for Google business profile based on category/industry

Now there are options to set other types of business hours depending on your business category. These only appear based on your primary business category. These will appear in the “Normal Business Hours” section.

For example, if you are a warehouse and you have separate hours during which the office is open for customers to speak to employees and when customers have access to their units, you can set these hours separately as “access hours.” .

You can also set additional opening times for restaurants, e.g. B. Delivery times, pickup times and even happy hours, which are displayed directly in the profile.

Special opening hours for the Google business profile

You can also let users know when your business is closed for holidays, holidays, or special days. These are called “Special Hours” and are located below the “Normal Business Hours” section in the GBP dashboard. Be sure to keep these up to date so customers don’t get confused and expect you to be open when you aren’t.

Make sure your business hours on Google are always up to date to accurately reflect when your business is open and closed. This makes it easier for new and existing customers to contact you and promotes a good customer experience. When you update your opening hours, Google adds a message to the profile to confirm to users that the business has updated and confirmed the opening hours.
