Out of the first trailer aloneI could tell gloriole Season 2 would go in a different direction than the first. Where Season 1 Stuck strange storytelling choices This didn’t leave much room for its characters – namely the Spartans – to do what they do best – namely kick Covenant’s ass – Season 2 is more in line with what a gloriole Show should be approximately.
According to Pablo Schreiber, the difference lies primarily in the tone. “I think the biggest success that we’re achieving at a level that we didn’t quite achieve in Season 1 is that the tone of this season feels darker,” he said in an interview with The edge.
Schreiber, who plays Master Chief Petty Officer John-117, thinks the action has also gotten better – I agree – and attributes these improvements to that gloriole‘S new showrunner, David Wiener.
“This year we are living in David Wiener’s world,” he said. “[His] I think the vision fits the tone of the gloriole franchise in a way that’s perhaps more fitting than the first season, and it’s incredibly successful.”
The first two episodes of glorioleThe second season is out now and it’s damn good. I already have shared my thoughts on episode 1, “Refuge.” Episode 2, “Sword,” may be a lot less action-packed, but it more than makes up for it by reintroducing us to Riz-028 (Natasha Culzac). In the previous season, only half of Silver Team, Kai-125 (Kate Kennedy) and Master Chief himself had time to devote to their character development. Schreiber said one of his great joys in this new season is correcting that.
“Early on in season two, we start to find ways to differentiate everyone and give them a little bit of personality,” he said. “I’m meeting all these people that I’ve worked so closely with over the last almost five years Having her moment in the spotlight was really fulfilling for me.”
As for Master Chief’s other relationships, Schreiber previously said he wasn’t thrilled about them confusing but brazen sex scene between John and Makee (Charlie Murphy), a human member of the hostile Covenant aliens. Schreiber would have liked a more subtle approach.
“The more elements of romance or sex that come to mind, the less grounded you feel in the franchise,” he said. But Schreiber also doesn’t think Master Chief is too serious a character for romance; it’s just that he would prefer a different partner: Cortana. “There’s a lot of romance in it gloriole. It just so happens that it’s between John and Cortana, you know.”
Of course, John loving his AI co-pilot isn’t a new idea. (Whose personality was cloned from Dr. Halsey, the woman who essentially created John and all the Spartans and is considered a mother figure to them all – make of that what you will.) She almost confesses her love for him Halo 4, and in Halo 5: Guardians, He leaves for the first time in his life to get her back. However, this could be interpreted as fierce loyalty – a trait Spartans are known and loved for – and Chief considers Cortana a member of the team.
So it was interesting to hear Master Chief himself describe the final moment of “Sanctuary” as romantic. In the scene, John visits a VR salon and talks to a hologram that almost looks like Cortana, but misses the target. John tells not-quite Cortana (Christina Bennington) that he feels like a part of him is missing and that he hears noises that he thinks might be her.
Although I’ve never had a sentient, autonomous AI implanted in my brain, I can imagine that if one were implanted in me and then taken away, like Cortana did for John, I too would feel like something was missing . But maybe I was a little too literal. “If you didn’t hear any romantic undertones in that scene, I don’t know how to phrase that for you, but I definitely thought there was,” Schreiber said.
Of course, if you’re not a Chief/Cortana shipper (I’m a Tom B292/Lucy B091 girl) or just consider them friends, that’s true too.
“It depends on your idea of romance,” Schreiber said. “When you talk about a life partnership, you are talking about someone who enriches you, someone who completes you, someone who makes you better than you were. That’s certainly what Chief saw in Cortana.”
Sounds a lot like love to me.
