How to add or claim your Brownbook.net business listing

Based in the UK, Brownbook is a global business listings database offering free listings for businesses. Founded in 2007, Brownbook is a large, respected listing database that helps businesses large and small get listed, noticed and valued. Whether you want to build citations and improve SEO or get more customers to see you, Brownbook is definitely worth your time.

account creation

  1. Go to https://www.brownbook.net/register/ and click on the “Create Account” option:

  2. Add the required information and make sure you tick all the required boxes:

  3. After you click “Create Account”, a message will appear in a yellow banner asking you to confirm the account creation. Go to your inbox to find this email. If it doesn’t arrive, you can “resend” it:

  4. The email contains the URL for account activation. Just click Activate Account to complete this step:

  5. The screen will show confirmation that the email is being verified:

Creating a brand new entry

  1. Make sure you’re logged into your account (your name will be displayed at the top right of the page).
  2. Here you have two options:
    • Click the “+” sign at the top right of the page.
    • Click the drop-down arrow under your name and select the “Add Business” option.

  3. Both options take you to the same page where you can add all relevant information about your business:

  4. Fill in at least the required fields, check the “I’m not a robot” box and click “Add” when you’re done.
  5. You will see a message telling you that the page has been added. It should appear on brownbook.net almost immediately; Therefore, you will be asked to claim the site. Click on “Request this listing for FREE”.

  6. You will immediately see the confirmation:

View and edit your managed listings

  1. To view all of the listings you manage, click the drop-down arrow next to your name (top right) and select “My Account”.

  2. You will see the page showing your data. From the left-side selector, click My Claimed Businesses:

  3. You’ll see a business profile that you’ve claimed:

  4. Click on the company page and select “Edit” in the left column. This allows you to update the details you provided and add additional content that could not be added in the first phase of page creation:

Claim an existing entry

  1. Create and verify your account with Brownbook (if you don’t already have one) by following the steps outlined in the “Account Creation” section above.
  2. go back to https://www.brownbook.net/ In the top bar, select the country where your company is located:

  3. Search for your company.
  4. Search for your page in the list of results. If the entry is not claimed, this will be stated under the company name:

  5. You can either click “Is this your company?” to claim the page, or click on the company name to open the full profile and make sure it is actually the page that belongs to your company. In the menu on the left you will see the option “Claim Listing”:

  6. The last step is to confirm your full name and check the box to confirm that it is your company:

  7. The claim is now complete. So you can return to your account, find your claimed business page, and continue editing and adding more details to your listing if needed.
